Vitrified human brain
In memory of the conteo victims, whose brains, under the pressure of the many nonsenses during the epidemic, suddenly warmed up and vitrified.
/ Megüvegesedett emberi agy
Az összeesküvés-elméletek áldozatainak emlékére, akiknek a járvány ideje alatt a sok képtelenség nyomására agyuk hirtelen felmelegedett és megüvegesedett.
2020
Oil on canvas
53 x 30 cm

Without the subtitle I wrote for the image, the painting remains incomprehensible. Much like real "in memoriam" inscriptions, the text is intertwined with the artwork. The painting is a reflection on the incredible amount of conspiracy theories and pseudoscientific news experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, which goes beyond personal harm.
Inspired by a discovery from Herculaneum, this composition is based on a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (January 22, 2020). The research suggests that the extreme heat from the Mount Vesuvius eruption was so intense that it turned a victim's brain into glass. This became the perfect visual metaphor for my work. I supplemented the black, shiny, glassy remains of a man's brain from the original picture with organic, dendrite-like extensions.
UFOs always fall into the cornfield
/ Az ufók mindig a kukoricásba zuhannak
2020
Oil on canvas
70 x 100 cm

Inspired by The Martyrdom of St. Christopher, specifically the detail of A Man Shot Through the Eye With an Arrow from Andrea Mantegna’s fresco in the Ovetari Chapel.
This painting depicts an absurd situation where UFOs, despite their incredibly advanced technology—capable of interstellar travel—somehow always struggle to find a suitable landing spot and inevitably end up in cornfields.
